About the Artist
Jacen Doebler is a multi media artist with a focus in illustration, painting, and sculpture. Graduating from Claremont Graduate University with an MFA in Studio Art, he uses his creativity and imagination to bring joy into his daily practice. He also focuses his time guiding his students to find their own creative joy through arts enrichment, illustration master classes, and lecture demonstrations.
Artist Statement
I pursue the childlike excitement and amazement that comes from abundant creation and imagination; As well as the power these concepts have to compensate for sardonic feelings brought on by the atmosphere of age and knowledge.
Through painting, illustration, and sculpture I explore this pragmatic battle between blissful complacency and vigilant cynicism.
With the life-sustaining qualities of art, a vast playground opens up in which the aforementioned attitude of withering awe can blossom, be dissected, and thus be turned on its head. I explore the far reaches of this playground in my search for fulfillment and levity night after night. Guided by passion, commitment, and ambitions, I pull the thread of imagination aiming to spark a fuller sense of self that feels more like me than I could ever verbally or physically exude.
